Services for Rufus Carlton Fitzpatrick, 87, of Piedmont, AL will be 6 p.m today at Piedmont Congregational Holiness Church of Hughes Street with Hayward Clark officiating. Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Friday at Goshen Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home of Piedmont in charge. The family will receive friends 11 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Fitzpatrick died Tuesday at Piedmont Health Care Center.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Ford and Ginger Blythe and her husband, Rick all of Piedmont; two sons and their wives, Ronald and Sue Fitzpatrick of Albuquerque, N.M.,and Carlton and Theresa Fitzpatrick of Brunswick,Ga; a brother-in-law and his wife J.D. and Eloise White of Piedmont; 10 Grandchildren, Mike Fitzpatrick and his wife, Valorie, Karen Mattox and her husband, Ron, Tony Ford, Colleen Fitzpatrick, Rachel Faulk and her husband, Marty, Sarah Fitzpatrick, Carissa Lloyd and her husband Bob, Melanie Troxell and her husband Mike, Marion Blythe and Brandy Barber; and 10 great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tony Ford, Matt Ford, Derek McFry, Leroy Fitzpatrick, Eddie Fitzpatrick, Art Ingram, and Hank Douthit. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, nieces and nephews,
Mr. Fitzpatrick, a Piedmont, Al native and lifelong resident was a member of Hughes Street Congregational Holiness Church where he served as deacon for many years, played the violin, and visited the sick and shut-ins. A World War II Army veteran, he retired from SCT Yarn with 48 years of service. he was preceded in death by his wife, Violet White Fitzpatrick; his parents Arthur and Geneva Fitzpatrick; a granddaughter, Rhonda Ford McFry ; four sisters and five brothers.

Mr. and Mrs. Lee Roy Fitzpatrick (Addie Johnson Phillips Fitzpatrick) of 110 West Alabama Street, Piedmont, AL died unexpectedly Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (car wreck)
Funeral services will be announced by Mickelsen Brown Service Funeral Home, Piedmont, Al.
Mr. Fitzpatrick is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Leroy Myers of Birmingham (Janice) Mrs W.C. Studdard of Piedmont, Al (Marion) and Mrs. Billy Epps of Piedmont, AL (Retha), a son Leroy Fitzpatrick of Oxford, AL; two sisters, Mrs. Irby Bannister (Maria) of Anniston, Al and Mrs. Toby Whiteside (Vada) of Watkinsville, GA; four brothers, Thomas E. Fitzpatrick of Watkinsville, GA; Ollie Fitzpatrick of Jacksonville, AL, Rufus Fitzpatrick and Harold Fitzpatrick of Piedmont, AL. Mr. Fitzpatrick had 10 grandchildren and a step-grandchild.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick is survived by a daughther, Mrs. Lee Little (Martha) of Piedmont, AL; a sister, Mrs. Roy Wolfe of Piedmon,AL; and a brother Buck Johnson of Piedmont, AL. She is also survived by a grandson, Phillip Little.
Mr. Fitzpatrick was a lifelong resident of Piedmont, AL and was a member of the Congregational Holiness Church. He was an employee of Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Gadsden, Al.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick was a lifelong resident of Piedmont, AL and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Fitzpatrick died Sunday at her home. June 13, 2004.
Survivors include her husband, Rufus C. Fitzpatrick; two daughters, Sandra Ford and Ginger Blythe and her husband Ricky, all of Piedmont, two sons and their wives, Ronald and Sue Fitzpatrick of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Carlton and Theresa Fitzpatrick of Brunswick, GA ; a brother and his wife J.D. and Eloise White of Piedmont, 10 grandchildren Mike Fitzpatrick and his wife, Valorie, Karen Mattox and her husband, Ron, Tony Ford, Colleen Fitzpatrick, Rachel Fitzpatrick, Sarah Fitzpatrick, Carissa Lloyd and her husband, Bob, Melanie Troxell and her husband, Mike,Marion Blythe and Brandy Barber, nine great-grandchildren and her caregivers, Pat Morrison and Frances Murphy.
Pallbearers will be Mike Fitzpatrick, Tony Ford, Matt Ford, Derek McFry, Art Ingram and Hank Douthit. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick, a Piedmont native and lifelong resident, was a member of Hughes Street Congregational Holiness Church where she played the mandolin for 69 years. She was a homemaker and seamstress. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Duncan and Helen White, a granddaughter, Rhonda Ford McFry and her parents, Dewey and Grace White.

Fitzpatrick Suicide VictimAged Piedmont Man Dies – Takes Own Life By Drinking Carbolic Acid.A.E. Fitzpatrick, 75 died Monday at 6:15 at the home of a son, Rufus Fitzpatrick, on Caton Street shortly after drinking a fatal potion of carbolic acid.Funeral services had not been completed, but will probably be held Wednesday at Piedmont Holiness church, pending the arrival of a number of the children from a distance. Usrey is in charge of arrangements.Surviving are six sons, Roy and Rufus, both of Piedmont; Harold, Fort Bragg, N.C.; Ollie, Camp Pickett, Va; Frank , Annistonand T.E. Monroe, Ga. Four daugters, Mrs. Grady Powell, Athen, GA; Mrs. John Clark and Mrs. Harry Parker both of Jacksonville, AL; one brother Clifford, Greensboro, Georgia and one sister Mrs. Sallie Tolbert, Griffin, GA and an aged Aunt Mrs. Tom Moore, Athens, GA who is 90 years of age or more and by whom he was reared as an orphan.Mr. Fitzpatrick had resided in Piedmont many years, and was employed by Standard Coosa -Thatcher for many years until retiring.

Geneva was born 1 October 1879 in Athens, Georgia and died 28 March 1936 in Piedmont, Alabama. She was the wife of Arthur Eugene Fitzpatrick. Arthur was my paternal Great Grandfather. Geneva was the daughter of Thomas Lilly and Elizabeth Youngblood.

Mrs. Geneva (wife of A.E. Fitzpatrick) died Saturday midnight at her home in Piedmont following an illness of over a year.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Holiness Church, the Rev. B.L. Cox officiating. Interment was in Piedmont Cemetery. Usrey in charge.
Six sons were pallbearers.
Surviving are the husband, six sons, Eddie of Georgia, Frank of Anniston, Harold, Roy, Ollie and Rufus , Piedmont, AL. Four daughters, Mrs. Grady Powell of Georgia, Mrs. Tobe Whitehead, of Georgia, and Mrs. John Clark and Mrs. R.L. Smith of Jacksonville. She has a brother E.C.Lilly of Acmar, Alabama.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick was born and reared at Athens, GA and had been a resident of Piedmont for 11 years.
The young man in the picture was her brother Emmett.
