  • After a bazillion years of researching I finally found my Great Great Grandparents on my fathers side. Thomas Cowan and Catherine McKelvey Cowan of Pennsylvania.

    I found another article with them in the article.

    It listed him as Thomas Cohen and Catharine McKelsey of Upland, Delaware Co, PA.    It came from North America, Family Histories, 1600-2000   Hannun Family, The Genealogy of Hannum Family descended from John and Margery Hannum Settlers of Chester PA.  North American, Family Histories 1500-2000 page 464.

  • Well after many years of searching I have gotten some headway. Here is some of my Cowan notes.

    My Grandfather.. well one of them.. Direct line.

    Thomas Cohen born 1832 or 1828 I have conflicting info in Ireland,  He however died August 6, 1891 in Pennsylvania . He is buried at Calvary Episcopal Cemetery, Aston Mills, Delaware County, PA

    I have a wife for Thomas, Catherine born September 12, 1841 in Ireland.. She died February 20, 1916 in Pennsylvania age 75.  I have her father as John Kelvey and her mother Mary Armstrong both born in Ireland. I am wondering if McKelvey. She is buried at Calvary Episcopal Cemetery, Aston Mills, Delaware County, PA

    The children of this union is as follows in Pennsylvania

    William Thomas born about 1857

    Sarah Elizabeth known as Lizzie who married a Johnson born 1859

    James born 1861

    Robert F born 1864

    John W born 1867

    Henry born 1870

    Margaret Jane which is my great Grandmother who married William K. Vanzant and ended up in Anniston, AL  they came from Chester PA  born 1872

    Noble born 1874

    Frederick Alfred born 1878  he ended up in Detroit Michigan where some years later he died.
